Interesting chart below showing the relationship between rising interest rates and SP 500 index returns. From 1963 to 2014 the rolling two year correlation shows that rising interest rates BELOW 5% have been associated with rising stock prices.  In essence, this chart shows that more than just a rise in rates, the starting point in the trend reversal is rather important.
